stockholm fashion week: the local firm

(images via rodeo)
the local firm is just that in stockholm, specializing in denim. perhaps this is just because it has been in the air lately, rather than any particular innovation on their part, but the s/s 2011 collection offered some delightful helmut lang moments (such as the wrapped glove-thing).

the company description is thus: “inspired by art, architecture and design from the former east-block and the Bauhaus movement.” that sounds rather nice, and i like the faded edginess of it, rather than the flash & pop of most premium denim companies, a’la rock & republic or true religion.

of course, we all know that i’m so partial to lang one could outright copy his designs in duct tape & paper towels and i would be screaming outside their studios, waving my kerchief and fainting, so we’ll have to wait until next season to better judge whether it holds.
